A cautionary tale on credit freezes

A friend pointed me to this blog post from Susie of the Internet Security Zone Blog. It's important for anyone considering a credit freeze to read her story.

In brief, if you freeze your credit, you'll be given a PIN by the credit bureau that will allow you to un-freeze your credit later. If you lose or forget that PIN, you're screwed.

I just had a "run in" with Express Consolidation. They took my money, couldn't get my debt. interest rate down, and I decided not to use them. They in turn refunded my money less 49.00 for administration fee, which they state blankly that they do not charge admission fees!!! They refused to refund my money, of which 49.00 is a LOT to me, probably peanuts for them. Anyhow, be wise and do it on your own, they are not honest or reliable. CAtherine
