If someone were facing a debt crisis and talked to a credit counselor, I'm sure they'd be counseled to cancel that "World of Warcraft" subscription. That's $15 per month that could go toward more important bills and debt payments.
But I wouldn't be so quick to do that. I remember my pre-WoW days. A new game every month, a new console every time they upgraded; I'm positive I was spending $750 per year on video games. (Of course, I was at the right age for that--single and in my 20s). Now I wish I had back all the time and money I spent playing all those games.
World of Warcraft made the difference. I didn't buy a single console or video game for over 3 years. The $15 per month I was spending to build up my Warlock in WoW completely replaced all the other gaming expenses. I didn't buy an Xbox 360 or a PS3. I didn't buy Halo 2, Halo 3, Gears of War, etc.
So I spent $180 per year on WoW, less than half the price of the Xbox 360 or PS3 I would have bought. That doesn't include all those games, which are running $60 apiece now.
I know everyone is different, but if you're worried about your debts and you're looking for things to cut, know yourself. If you drop that $15 monthly WoW subscription, are you likely to replace it with a different $60 console game every month? If that's you (and I know that's how I was) then you're better off sticking with the WoW subscription.
that sure is a diffrent angel to think about it :D

well, i agree with u for saving the money part. But different games have different experience. if it is just for killing time and no curiosity for new ones, wow is definitely great. Lol, I have played wow for one year now. well i guess i saved a lot of money :)

my stepson is addicted to world of warcraft he will not get up from the pc to help with the kids or do anything around the house he even fradulently used his mothers credit to pay for his monthly fee its a curse to those who can not break away from it.

Can't argue with that, Daniel. With anything, whether it's alcohol, nicotine, or video games, moderation is key. If someone is so addicted to something that they're stealing to pay for it, they need to quit, one way or another.

It's still gamer's choice on how he would manage his money playing his favorite games. You might not even know that sometimes your addiction can do also good to you.
