I saw a sidebar in the newspaper recently that read "Best low-rate credit cards." They listed 5 or six credit card companies with rates ranging from 7.5 to 9.9%.
It was a terribly misleading list. The numbers to call and apply for the cards were listed, and "Best low-rate cards" suggests that the cards mentioned are worth applying for. But none of these cards were mentioned.
The newspaper got suckered in by 7.5% interest rates, and didn't look at the other options on the cards, like $200 annual fees, 15 day grace periods, universal default, etc.
When you are looking for a good credit card, look beyond interest rates. Low annual fees, longer grace periods and no universal default clauses are important; just as important as a good interest rate.
Nobody's paid me any money to shill their card (yet... hint, hint) but I'd stick with BB&T's Visa Platinum card: 1-800-476-4228.
